EI Teaches Indexing 101

April Michelle Davis taught her self-designed course, Indexing 101, via Google groups July 10 through August 14, 2017 for the Pen Institute. April Michelle took the mystery out of indexing and instead showed it the respect and importance it deserved.

In this course, April Michelle started from scratch and moved toward writing and organizing the index by setting up the index entry, using the book’s content, and working with electronic tools. An additional value of this course was that April Michelle, a professional indexer, personally assisted each participant with writing an index from a portion of a book , and the text for this course was the book A Guide for the Freelance Indexer, which April Michelle authored and was asked to write for the Editorial Freelancers Association.
