EI Teaches Indexing Course for EFA

April Michelle Davis taught Indexing Basics, a 7-week indexing course that she designed and presented, through the Editorial Freelancers Association in February and March. The textbook for this course, A Guide for the Freelance Indexer, was written by April Michelle from what she learned about indexing by taking classes and years of hands-on experiences in the indexing arena. As an extension to this course, April Michelle offered to review the rough draft of an index that the participants wrote and give feedback. Any professional would recognize this opportunity as an added value that should not be taken lightly. Her audience for this course was primarily EFA members,  publishing professionals, and others who found the subject matter of interest, and the passion expressed by these participants was explosive to say the least as April Michelle guided them through the sections and applied each one to a live index.

At the conclusion of the course, one student wrote the following: “Your course taught me more about indexing than I figured there was to learn.”
